The Marketing Strategist:

Class Is in Session: The Professional Diploma Course in Marketing for Business Services and Solutions Begins

December 14, 2010

December 6 was a key date for ITSMA: that day we saw our first students begin studying for the Professional Diploma in Marketing for Business Services and Solutions. Following almost 12 months of planning and development, the course is now live, with marketers from BT, Cisco, Fujitsu, and Steria among those beginning their studies with us. The students joining this first course will benefit from a blended delivery, meaning they will work through a series of engaging, interactive online tutorials that will be supported by six one-day, face-to-face workshops. This delivery method affords students the flexibility to focus on their studies at a time that is most appropriate for them while retaining the benefits of face-to-face support and networking with other marketing professionals during the course. With coursework supported by case studies from organizations such as BT, EDF, and IBM, the delegates will benefit from a course designed specifically for marketers of business services and solutions. January will see the delegates come together in London from various locations, including New York, Munich, and London for their first workshop session. They will be looking at the marketing planning process and discussing areas such as the following:
  • The role of the marketing plan
  • How the plan works within the organization
  • How to conduct a marketing audit and turn its findings into strategy
  • Segmentation, targeting, and positioning
This workshop will also give students the opportunity to discuss their first assignment and ensure that they understand what the examiners are expecting from them. Did we mention that during the course, students will have four assignments and one case-study exam that they will need to pass to receive this qualification? While this course has already started, the first fully virtual course (e-learning plus a series of live online tutorials) is scheduled for early 2011, so if you wish to get involved in this exciting new project there’s still time, no matter where you’re based! Simply contact Kerry Johnston with a copy of your CV or register your interest on our Professional Diploma in Business Services Marketing Webpage. There is no doubt that 2011 will be a challenging but worthwhile and rewarding year for our students. At the end of the course, they will be able to demonstrate not only their knowledge of key marketing principles and their ability to apply that knowledge in the context of business to business services marketing, but also their commitment to personal development. We look forward to bringing you news in the New Year of how our students are progressing.
