Overview
Corporate Social Responsibility is regarded as the only responsible way to conduct business within the 21st century. No longer is it acceptable for organisations to operate with little or no regard for the greater ecosystem within which it exists.
Many of today’s companies have recognised the importance of CSR and have implemented visible strategies for sustainability alongside their core competences. These may range from philanthropic programs, to supporting third world initiatives, to recycling and similar eco-friendly or “green” activities. In more mature organisations CSR is embedded in their entire way of doing business—from recruitment to advertising to manufacturing, and so on.
The purpose of this ITSMA Roundtable is to stimulate an open discussion around this broad and important topic. We will hear from organisations which have developed strong CSR and sustainability-related programs. Some of the CSR topics we’ll discuss include:
The benefits, in real terms, for companies
The role of marketing
Creating viable sustainability strategies
The impact of a sustainability strategy on the greater ecosystem: employees, partners, customers, suppliers, and others
